Endless Summer

When it comes to the stuff I want to wear all summer long, I can pretty much sum it up as light and easy. I want natural colours and soft fabrics with minimal tassels, ties and general bells and whistles. When it’s properly hot in the midst of southern Europe summers, you want items that are loose and easy to pull onto sticky, salty skin at the end of the day (synthetics and anything tight or requiring a zip can do one) and light and breezy flirtatious numbers for when the sun goes down.

I’ve worked with Free People a lot over the years and they consistently remain one of my favourite haunts for summer essentials, especially as their endless summer collection is just that; available all year for sun-filled jaunts whatever the time of year. I’ve teamed up with Free People to create an edit of my favourite pieces from their Endless Summer collection, case in point like this caramel-coloured romper and white linen dress that has made me fall back in love with halter necks after a fifteen year hiatus.

I’ve really got back into colour and eclecticism recently but lowkey, beachy, bohemian stuff is a real default look for summer for me. Sometimes I just want to wear the bare minimum and accessorise only with gold jewellery, a tan and freshly washed hair. Free People is exactly where you want to head for that kind of vibe; I love that these two pieces could almost be vintage or bought from a beach shack in Greece or Mexico. It’s pieces like this little playsuit that make me realise I really need to stop overpacking because I’ll inevitably just end up pulling on this every morning and little else. Advice I should probably head when I’m off to Ibiza next week…

Keep it simple, wear stuff that makes you happy, stick to pieces that don’t need an iron and while summer most definitely isn’t endless, the memories certainly can be.
